Once Human is a survival horror game with both multiplayer PvP and PvE gameplay. The game follows a seasonal format, with different stages of the season unlocking new gameplay options. Once Human is free to play, but there is a cash shop for buying cosmetic items and also a monthly battle pass.

Once Human weapons Human has a steep learning curve , and throws a lot of gameplay features at new players, much of which isn’t explained very well. It is very easy to make some fundamental mistakes in the early game that players won’t learn about until they have progressed quite a long way.

It can be very tempting to plow through POI in Once Human with all guns blazing. At times, this is something that needs to be done to clear out large groups of enemies. Especially if the enemies in question use range attacks, or if the player becomes surrounded. However, this will burn through ammo.

Crafting advanced ammo is very expensive to sustain the constant use of ranged weapons. It is possible to keep up with demand, but this will require the player to continually gather resources to replenish ammo supplies after each session out on the open-world map. A much better idea is to use a melee weapon when possible to save ammo in this survival horror game .

Some players simply prefer combat over the survival aspects of a game, and there is nothing wrong with this. However, in Once Human , it is impossible to completely ignore the crafting aspects, as the player needs to craft their own gear in most cases.

All crafting recipes require resources and materials that are either collected from the world map, such as ores and wood or looted from enemies and crates. Furthermore, unless a player is friendly with a large PvP guild , they will have limited access to fuel reserves and will need to be constantly looting wrecked cars for fuel. All of this is best done during normal play by just taking a few moments to harvest resource nodes and loot containers the player comes across.

Each new map area is gated by a boss encounter. These boss encounters become much more difficult as the player progresses. Therefore, the player needs to make sure they have appropriate gear at the right level and are high enough level themselves to tackle the next monolith mission on the open-world map .

It can be tempting just to keep following the main storyline without completing all of the POIs in the previous map areas, and not completing side quests. Don’t do this. It is this additional content that will make sure the player has the gear and levels they need to progress past the next boss fight. POIs are a great source of rare crafting materials and https://Oncehumanbase.Com currencies that the player is going to need to craft decent-level gear going forward, so they should all be completed to 100% before the player moves to the next world zone.

The world map in Once Human is one of the best seen in a game to date. Not only is it incredibly detailed, but there are a great many scripted events that are triggered when a player moves close to them. These events often lead to some great loot, or they result in the player being given a new side quest.

This means that the game does reward players who are willing to take the time to explore the map in full. Some of these scripted events are unique, and extremely entertaining, making them well worth seeking out.

Energy Links are a form of currency that new players to Once Human may not understand the value of initially. They are used to activate teleport beacons for fast travel. The further the player wants to teleport, the higher the cost of Energy Links.

Therefore, it is well worth a player moving their base to each new map zone they are working within, as this will mean that the use of Energy Links is efficient. This is important, as a little later in the game the player will need to spend Energy Links to upgrade their gear.

The Journey system in Once Human consists of several dozen small tasks the player is prompted to complete. Simple things, such as crafting a tool, using medicine, and other small events. As these tasks are completed, the player is rewarded with a small amount of special resources and currency.

It is very easy to overlook this part of the game, but it pays to complete the Journey tasks as soon as possible. What makes these small tasks very useful is that they often act as mini-tutorials, introducing a particular aspect of the game to new players.

(image: https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/wm/2024/07/use-all-available-deviants-in-once-human.jpg)

Deviants are small capturable pets that can be used to perform different actions in Once Human . Every player receives their first combat Deviant, the butterfly, as part of the new player experience. What the game doesn’t make clear is that apart from carrying a deviant in the player’s backpack cradle to use in combat, deviants can also perform duties at the player's base.

Building additional containment units allows the player to store more active deviants. These containment units can be used by deviants that passively harvest resources, give crafting bonuses, help with farming, and many other useful abilities.
